The BBC’s Oasis night kicks off at 8.35pm with Oasis at the BBC. From the raw ambition of Rock 'n' Roll Star and Cigarettes & Alcohol, to the sweeping emotion of Wonderwall, Slide Away, and Champagne Supernova, this collection tells the story of the Oasis phenomenon through the songs themselves — a sonic reminder of why the band’s legacy still looms so large in British music history.
It’s a journey through the BBC’s music archives to celebrate the legendary rise of Oasis — the feuding brothers, the timeless anthems, and the sound that defined a generation.
Bursting onto the scene in 1994 with swagger and singalongs, Oasis quickly became the voice of a new era. This retrospective brings together the standout tracks that captured the spirit of the ’90s and the Britpop movement — not with anger, but with admiration.
At 10.20pm, the documentary Oasis: Right Here, Right Now. First broadcast in 1997, this documentary gives the band's account of their previous year. Featuring exclusive performances and detailed interviews with the Gallaghers.
The night closes with a special edition of Later… with Jools Holland featuring an hour-long set from the band, first broadcast in 2000.
